Behemoth – Evangelion (2009)

Recording and production.

Released in 2009, Evangelion was the culmination of the style developed on the Demigod album. Musically, it is an album deeply rooted in the aesthetics of blackened death metal, characterized by extraordinary precision of performance and complexity of arrangement. The album debuted at No. 1 on the OLiS chart, which was an unprecedented event for extreme music in Poland.

Achieving Gold Record status (over 15,000 copies sold) confirmed that Behemoth was no longer an underground band. The album earned the band the Fryderyk 2010 award in the “Heavy Metal Album of the Year” category, which was a symbolic acceptance of extreme music into the mainstream of Polish phonography.
